Public Safety Video System

Three video cameras are now operating on public streets in Woodinville to aid law enforcement with the investigation of crimes.  The cameras will not be actively monitored and will not be used for traffic enforcement.  The cameras will only be used to aid Police in the investigation of a crime or vehicular accident after it has occurred.  Cameras are located on the following intersections:

  • NE 175th Street & 131st Avenue NE
  • NE 175th Street & 140th Avenue NE
  • NE 195th Street & 136th Avenue NE

The use of video technology for law enforcement purposes was approved by the Woodinville City Council on May 21, 2013; after it adopted a set of detailed policies and procedures restricting the use and providing amble oversight of the system.  The policies are consistent with state and federal laws, and they identify that the Woodinville Police Department's use of video system is limited to public streets or city owned parkland property where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy.

All data collected that is not part of an active crime investigation will be available through the City's public records request system here.  Video records will only be kept for 30 days, after this time the recordings will be erased.
