The City of Woodinville and Woodinville Fire & Life Safety
District (WFLSD) work cooperatively in several areas to encourage
and ensure fire prevention. The City contracts with WFLSD for
fire prevention services such as construction plan review to
ensure compliance with applicable fire codes. Typical requirements
include fire suppression (sprinklers and alarms), adequate emergency
vehicle access and fire hydrants and building construction.
WFLSD conducts annual business inspections to ensure fire code
compliance and the safety of the public. Sometimes fire code
violations are found during the inspection. When those violations
are not corrected at the request of the Fire Department, a referral
is made to the City's
Code Enforcement Officer.
In accordance with Woodinville Municipal Code Chapter 8, the
sale and discharge of fireworks is prohibited within Woodinville
city limits. Violations should be reported by calling 9-1-1.
The WFLSD offers educational presentations on fire safety and
prevention. The District, in accordance with the International
Fire Code, requires a smoke detector to be installed in all
dwelling units.
Air quality burn bans are issued and enforced by the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency when air pollution levels rise to unhealthy levels. Fire safety burn bans are issued and enforced by local fire departments, the County Fire Marshal and the State Department of Natural Resources.
