Sign-Up Now for a 9-1-1 Call Center Citizen's Academy
The King County Sheriff’s Office is offering a 9-1-1 Call Center Citizen’s Academy, scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 29, 2012. The 9-1-1 Citizen’s Academy is a learning opportunity for community minded people interested in how the King County 9-1-1 center operates and for people interested in a career in public safety dispatching.
The 9-1-1 Citizen's Academy is a one day class that goes from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The course covers the following topics:
The History of 9-1-1
Call Taking Procedures
Law Enforcement Dispatching
9-1-1 Communications Training Program
King County Sheriff's coverage of King County
Quality Improvement Program
Observation time with an actual call receiver
Applications must be received by September 7, 2012. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, live or work in King County, and have never been convicted of a felony. Visit the King County Sheriff's website to learn more about the course or to apply.
