City Installs New Art Sculpture
A new Art Sculpture was installed on September 13, at the southwest corner of NE 175th Street and 133rd Avenue NE. The art sculpture is a donation from the late Malka Fricks, a former City Parks & Recreation Commissioner. The sculpture was designed and built by artist Shelley S. Curtiss.
The new sculpture is a friendly 2-foot tall bronze basset hound mom and pup that welcomes motorists and pedestrians as they pass the corner of 133rd Avenue NE. The City has extended the sidewalk to make a fitting place for the sculpture and will provide lighting and landscaping after some needed electrical work has been completed.
The City Council will hold a brief installation ceremony to recognize Ms. Fricks’ contribution at a date and time to be determined in the near future.
