Long Range Planning
Long-Range Planning Program
Woodinville’s Long Range Planning Program is engaged in preparation, maintenance and update of the Woodinville Comprehensive Plan and other planning documents that guides future development of the City. The Comprehensive Plan includes land use, capital facilities planning, transportation, housing, and other chapters that address the needs of Woodinville for the next 20 years and ensures compliance with the Growth Management Act (GMA).
Long Range Planning is responsible for annual updates of the Comprehensive Plan map and text, revision of the Zoning Map and development regulations to maintain consistency with the Comprehensive Plan and provides resource assistance to the City Council, Planning Commission, and other City departments.
The City of Woodinville maintains a variety of long-range plans that guide the City's activities and progress towards specific goals. Plans are wide-ranging and touch on topics such as stormwater, transportation, land-use planning and parks and recreation.
Here you can find information regarding the types of plans that the City is required or may elect to do. If you are looking for current or former plans that the City has adopted, you can find them in the Plans folder in our Document Center.
Woodinville's first Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 1996 and set development and growth guidelines in and around Woodinville for a 20-year period. Through yearly updates (Annual Docket), the Plan provides direction for the physical development of Woodinville and serves as a guideline for designating land uses, developing infrastructure, establishing community services and implementing regulations.
Master plans and guidelines support the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan. Each plan helps to provide a more detailed vision and to identify the ways the City can achieve a balance of growth inside and even outside City limits.
The Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PRO) Plan establishes goals, criteria, and plans for future parks, recreation, and open space facilities in Woodinville.
With continued strategic investment in the transportation network, Woodinville can maintain a good transportation system even with a large amount of population and employment growth. Learn how the Transportation Master Plan and Transportation Improvement Plan help achieve this goal.
The Capital Improvement Plan is a multi-year planning document that helps guide local communities in coordinating the financing and timing of improvements.
