If an earthquake or other major disaster struck your neighborhood, would you be willing to help rescue people and provide basic first aid until police, fire and EMS personnel arrive? If so, then join Woodinville's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)!
The City of Woodinville will offer CERT training this summer, starting June 30, 2022. Classes will take place each week on Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00pm at Woodinville City Hall, with a final tabletop exercise scheduled for Saturday, August 27 from 9:00am-12:00pm.
The CERT program educates community volunteers about emergency preparedness for hazards such as earthquakes, flooding, and pandemics, and trains them in basic disaster psychology and response skills, such as fire safety, first aid, light search and rescue, and more. Classes are taught by trained emergency personnel.
Utilizing the training learned in the classroom and exercises, CERT members can assist their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
Woodinville CERT classes are open to everyone age 15+. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
