Named in honor of "the mother of Woodinville", the Carol Edwards Center served as the city's recreation hub. A few years after opening in 2007, the City had to make a tough choice, closing the rec center due to the economy and shrinking revenues. Not wanting give up on having recreation opportunities for our citizens, the City partnered with the Northshore YMCA to reopen its doors in 2011.

The Carol Edwards Center closed its doors in 2018 to be renovated and restored as part of the City's public-private partnership aimed at redevelopment of entire Civic Campus site, scheduled to open in late 2021.
