Winter is Coming. Are you Ready?

Winter is Coming. Are you Ready?
Posted on 01/09/2020
January is in full swing and you're layering up to keep the chilly air out. But that chilly air also means that snow and ice will likely be here before we know it. We may not get a foot of snow like last year's snowpocalypse, but if we've learned anything, it's to have a plan just in case!

This winter, our approach here at City Hall has been to start stocking up on the things we'll need before the first flurry falls. For us that means replacement plow parts and extra salt in our maintenance yard, ready to be sprinkled on roads at a day's notice. We've also recently updated our snow plow priority route map to let residents know when they can expect to see neighborhood streets plowed following a snowstorm.

We recommend you also take time now to think about what you might need once the winter weather arrives. Whether that's a back-up generator, tire chains, an extra shovel, or a stash of games to entertain kids stuck at home, it's always best to be prepared. And when the snow does fall, please remember to park your car in your driveway or along side streets-- or risk getting towed to make space for snow plows.

Finally, this is a great time of year to think of others. You may be in a position to shovel your neighbor's walkway or help ferry someone to the grocery store for emergency rations. The more we can be there for one another, stronger our community will be.
